John Trahan ’83 currently serves as Chief Financial Officer of The Menil Collection in Houston. John began his career with Price Waterhouse in Dallas, and, in 1984, entered and completed the credit training program of the former InterFirst Bank (now Bank of America) in Houston. Until 2006, he worked primarily in the corporate banking/public finance departments of a number of domestic and foreign financial institutions, including CIBC (Los Angeles) and BNP Paribas (New York). John then joined municipal bond insurer Assured Guaranty as Managing Director for the origination of transactions with state and local governments and institutional nonprofit organizations.
In 2010, he resigned from Assured Guaranty to pursue a personal sabbatical. John spent 2013 in South Africa teaching English as a volunteer for a scholarship NGO based in Cape Town. Upon returning to New York, John sought a position in nonprofit management, electing to combine his extensive experience as both a lender to institutional nonprofit organizations and as a trustee for multiple nonprofits—leading to his joining The Menil Collection in July, 2014.
