My in-laws purchase bricks for each grandchild when they are born at a zoo in another city. When we found out we were pregnant with our son, they asked where we wanted his brick to be. It was just as the Centennial campaign was launching, so we knew instantly - SMU! My dad, brother, and I all went to SMU for undergrad. My mom holds an Endowed Chair at the Theology School. I met my husband, Dallas, there in graduate school, and he will graduate from Dedman College with his doctorate this May. It seemed only fitting to have an inscription of our son's name (our living legacy) in the ground at a place that has meant so much to our family.
