BARBARA CLAYTON
ANDERSON '51
My grandmother, Mary Dickinson Clayton,1923, and my mother, Barbara Clayton Anderson were very proud to have attended and graduated from SMU. They were both Thetas and kept up with their sorority sisters all their lives. Several of the sorority sisters were Godmothers to my siblings and were entwined in our lives. Mother made sure we attended SMU football games in the fall and SMU cheerleading camps in the summers. My mother is extremely ill right now. BUT, she will watch an SMU football game and whoop and holler with the best of them. Just recently, she was watching a game and telling us stories of Doak Walker and other football players. When I found Doak's photograph on the Internet, she was so pleased. The mention of SMU brings a smile to my mother's face. In fact, I have ordered an SMU blanket for her for Christmas. Mother is suffering from Alzheimer's, so for her to fondly remember and recount her days at SMU, tells me those were some of her most cherished memories.
