Our goal: Send 63 Students on three Alternative Spring Break trips.

Alternative Breaks is an SMU student organization offering direct community service opportunities during academic breaks. Low trip fees make these experiences accessible to all students. These funds will allow sixty-three students to spend their Spring Break on service trips in Atlanta, St. Louis, and New Orleans. These students will work with organizations that support education, victims of domestic violence and victims of natural disasters.

Make a gift at the levels listed below and receive:
  • $50: An Alternative Breaks sticker and a personal thank you note from a student
  • $100: An Alternative Breaks sticker, a personal thank you note from a student and a custom calligraphy bookmark
  • $500: An Alternative Breaks sticker, a personal thank you note from a student, a custom calligraphy bookmark and a personalized Vine video from a student

Our goal: Purchase and upgrade projector systems for A-LEC classrooms.

The Altshuler Learning Enhancement Center, or A-LEC, provides academic support for current students and student athletes. The A-LEC needs two new projector systems for classrooms in the Paul B. Loyd, Jr. All Sports Center. These projectors will improve the delivery of instruction for the HDEV110 and HDEV111 classes, which help students build reading and learning skills and achieve greater success in their academic, professional, and personal lives.

Make a gift at the levels listed below and receive:
  • $50: Handwritten thank you note from an A-LEC instructor
  • $100: Handwritten thank you note from A-LEC instructor and an A-LEC magnet
  • $500: Handwritten thank you note from an A-LEC instructor, a letter from Director of A-LEC, Susan Bierman, and Associate Provost, Harold Stanley and an A-LEC magnet.

Our goal: Award the Military Alumni Scholarship for the first time.

The Military Alumni of SMU (MA) affinity group supports military members within the SMU community. Securing these funds will allow MA to award the first Military Alumni Scholarship to a deserving student who has served in the military and is not eligible for 100% of the Chapter 33 Post 9/11 GI Bill. The recipient would be permitted to use these funds for tuition, fees, books, miscellaneous expenses and transportation while studying at SMU.

Make a gift at the levels listed below and receive:
  • $50: Handwritten thank you note from the Mil-Vets student organization
  • $100: Handwritten thank you note from the Mil-Vets student organization and an “SMU Alumni” bumper sticker
  • $500: Handwritten thank you note from the Mil-Vets student organization, an “SMU Alumni” bumper sticker and an embroidered Mustang patch
