Computers are located throughout our libraries. All computers have Internet access as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Users should save their documents online or to a portable USB drive. Computers reboot every morning at 4:00 am. View our public computer use policy.
Online resources (databases and e-journals) are available from all library computers.
Computers for public use (no SMU ID required) are located on every floor of Fondren Library Center and Hamon Arts Library. Printing is available for a fee.
Computers for the SMU community (SMU ID is required) are located throughout Fondren Library Center and Hamon Arts Library. They are equipped with additional software.
Fondren Library Computer Classrooms
These computer classrooms may be reserved for instructional use. A valid SMU ID is needed to log onto the computers in the classrooms.
Faculty Media Lab
The Faculty Media Lab is a multimedia facility for use by faculty and teaching assistants working on digital media and online projects.
All computers are equipped with Internet browsers as well as Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint. Computers with specialized software require an SMU ID to use.
Fondren Library Center Multimedia Center
14 iMacs available in Fondren Library West (near Research Help desk) during the library's regular hours, usually 24/5 during semesters.
Dedicated one-on-one staff assistance is available by email request (firstname.lastname@example.org). Media Storage is available on local hard drives, however external storage is highly recommended, see tech staff for hardware recommendation.
