The first 90 days of your employment at SMU are considered to be your probationary or trial period. During this time, both you and your supervisor should be evaluating your performance. Meeting with your supervisor on a regular basis will help ensure you understand what is expected of you and how you are performing against those expectations. Beginning these types of conversations early on will support you as you navigate through the probationary period and will foster good communication skills for the future. Your should also begin to discuss your goals for the upcoming year and identify any areas for growth and training.
Your supervisor will be providing feedback during your probationary period via an automated email starting as early as your 60th day. Your new employee checklist will help ensure that you are tracking to meet all your training requirements during your probationary period and dates of completion will be reported on the Manager's Check In Form.
