Abigail Marie Hawthorne is 20 years old and entering her third year double majoring in oboe performance and psychology at Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. She is currently a student of Erin Hannigan, principal oboist of the Dallas Symphony Orchestra, and studied for seven years with Megan Blauvelt Heuer of the Abilene Philharmonic Orchestra. In addition to the oboe, Abigail also studies piano at SMU with Alessandro Mazzamuto, and studied for twelve years with Sue Hansen of Richardson Music Teachers Association.

At SMU, Abby performs regularly with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra, Meadows Wind Ensemble, and the Meadows Opera Orchestra, and she substitutes oboe and English horn with the Lone Star Wind Orchestra. She played second oboe and English horn with the Music in the Mountains Festival Orchestra in Durango, Colorado during the July 2016 season.

She is a President's Scholar and a Meadows Scholar at SMU, she serves as the copy-editor for the Honors campus newspaper Hilltopics, and she dances on the SMU Ballroom Dance team. After graduation, Abby plans to pursue a Masters degree in oboe performance.
