About this creative
Bomethius is the lo-fi baroque pop alias of Jonathan Hodges, a Dallas-based composer and multi-instrumentalist. Mostly self-taught, Hodges handles the guitar and piano with skill but truly excels with the violin, an instrument he started playing at age 3. A former proteégeé of violinists Chee-Yun Kim, Alexander Serafimov, and Ivan Zenatý, he studies with Diane Kitzman at Southern Methodist University, where he is a member of the Meadows Symphony Orchestra. Given the range of instruments Bomethius handles, he is also known for his collaborations with other artists and his work as a studio musician. In addition to his recorded work, Bomethius is also a capable improvisor on violin, guitar, and piano - with specific emphasis in solo settings as a pianist. From private dinner parties and business functions to the Dean's socials right here at SMU, Bomethius has played numerous venues as a jazz pianist, and he is more than interested in playing for your event too!
