Caroline Swanson has a background in both violin and viola, and is trained and registered with the Suzuki Association of the Americas as a Suzuki teacher. She is currently working on her master's degree in viola performance at the Southern Methodist University, studying with Barbara Sudweeks. Music has been part of her life for as long as she can remember, and she is passionate about both refining her art and sharing it with the world. She completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan with Yizhak Schotten, and attended Interlochen Arts Academy for her last two years of high school. She has participated in many major summer festivals, such as the Texas Music Festival, the Brevard Music Festival, and the Castleman Quartet Program. Her orchestral experience includes various ensembles, including Grammy-nominated symphonies, opera orchestras, and string orchestras, and she has held frequent principal positions. Caroline is an avid chamber musician, having performed with numerous string quartets and other small ensembles. She has premiered several new works for solo viola, string quartet, and orchestra, and loves to play music of any era in any setting.
