Matthew Fitzsimmons is a trumpet player and teacher based in the Dallas area. He has experience performing in a wide variety of genres including chamber, solo, orchestral, band, jazz combo, and big band. He has worked with the Dallas Winds and Center Stage Brass, performed at the Texas Music Educators Association in 2018, and can be heard on the UNT Wind Symphony's recording of Stephenson's 'Concerto for Hope' featuring Ryan Anthony. During summer 2018, he performed in Europe as a fellow with the American Slovenian Education Foundation. He has also taught trumpet at DFW high schools with students placing at the top of their district. In spring, 2018 Matthew was a Finalist in the Large Trumpet Ensemble Division, and Semi-Finalist in the Graduate Solo Division at the National Trumpet Competition. While doing his undergraduate work at The Catholic University of America in Washington D.C., Matthew performed with the Air Force Concert Band during their Collegiate Symposium, for congressional dignitaries with his jazz combo, and for Pope Francis alongside the Washington Symphonic Brass. Matthew is available as a trumpet teacher, clinician, and performer, with reasonable rates offered for weddings, church services and masses, as well as for other special events.
