Shilpa Kudva is a flutist and performer in the Dallas/Fort Worth metroplex. She can play flute music of many different styles in formal or informal settings. Shilpa currently performs with the Meadows Symphony Orchestra, the Meadows World Music Ensemble, and the Meadows Wind Ensemble, as well as alone in solo settings. She has experience playing Western classical and Indian classical music, and is highly flexible given the nature of the audience or the event. Shilpa is a laureate of many solo flute competitions, including 1st prize in the UTA Maverick Undergraduate flute solo competition, 1st prize in the Texas Flute Society's Donna Marie Haire Young Artist competition, and winner of the Texas Flute Society's College and Adult Solo Masterclass Competition. She currently studies with Kara Kirkendoll Welch, second flutist in the Dallas Symphony Orchestra. Her previous teachers include Demarre McGill, former principal flutist of the Dallas Symphony, and Dr. Terri Sanchez, assistant professor of flute at UT Arlington. In her free time, Shilpa enjoys reading, cycling, and cooking.
