Applauded by judges for his "elegantly nuanced playing", Texas native Zane Mallett is a graduate of Southern Methodist University, majoring in harp performance and music education. He studies under Dallas Winds harpist Naoko Nakamura, a former student of renowned pedagogue Alice Chalifoux.

A finalist of the SMU Meadows Concerto Competition in Dallas, Zane has been a featured performer of the Round Top Music Festival, Pierre Monteux School, Eastern Music Festival, and the Colorado, Oklahoma, and Nebraska harp workshops. In the summer of 2018, he was named a Bernard Osher Instrumental Scholar. He has also performed in masterclasses for harpists such as Judy Loman, Gaye Leblanc, Shelly Du, Emily Levin, and Sasha Boldachev. Zane is also an active member in several ensembles at SMU, including SMU's Symphony, Wind Ensemble, contemporary ensemble SYZYGY, and the SMU choral ensembles.

Zane currently is a freelance musician and private teacher in the Dallas metroplex. He is available for weddings, parties, funerals, ceremonies, ensemble playing, chamber music, and private lessons. He is currently finishing his student teaching internship in Frisco ISD.
